UPWD WELCOME TO UPWD

The Urban Poor Women Development (UPWD) is a local non-government, not-profit and non-polictical organization which was establish in August 1997 and registered with the Ministry of Interior in 1998. Since inception, the organization is actively involved in influencing state registration in faver of the urban.

WHERE WE WORK

UPWD has been working since 1997 in urban slums area in Phnom Penh city, Cambodia. So far we have organized 20 communities in 3 Khans (Khan Mean Chey, Khan Russey Keo and Khan Sen Sok), with more than 1100 families 12220 people.

OUR VISION

Residents in slum areas live with dignity and high self-esteem and are able to contribute to promotion of local good governance and public services toward sustainable communities.

MISSION

We support communities in slum areas to best achieve their endeavours in minimizing root-causes of their problem themselves toward an independent people organization.

This can, through a partnership framework, be achieved by facilitating community organizing processes and building capacities of woman and youth leaders and of vulnerable groups in networking with others who support the interest of the communities.
